Homework Problems
A variety of problem types stress practical, realistic conditions encountered in professional practice, with several ranges of difficulty to provide students the practice they want.
End-of-Chapter Problems
Along with the Fundamental and Conceptual issues (see below), there are quite a few standard problems that depict realistic conditions encountered in engineering practice. All through the ebook, you will discover an approximate balance of problems using either SI or FPS units. Most problem sets arrange the problems in order of increasing difficulty, and solutions are included at the back of the etextbook (with an exception of every fourth problem, as indicated by an asterisk).
NEW | Preliminary Problems are designed to check students’ conceptual understanding of the theory and are placed throughout the text before the Fundamental Problems. Preliminary Problem solutions require little or no calculation and are supposed to help college students develop a fundamental understanding of the ideas before they’re applied numerically. All the solutions are given at the back of the ebook.
Fundamental Problems
Situated just after the Example Problems, Fundamental Problems provide students simple applications of the ideas and help them develop their problem-solving skills before making an attempt to solve the standard problems that follow. These problems provide a superb means of preparing for exams and can be utilized at a later time to prepare for the Fundamentals in Engineering Exam. All the Fundamental Problems have complete solutions and answers at the end of the ebook.
Conceptual Problems
Conceptual Problem sets appear at the end of the chapter and contain conceptual situations associated to applying the principles introduced in that chapter. These analysis and design problems are supposed to engage college students in thinking through a real-life scenario as depicted in a photograph. These could be assigned after the students have developed some expertise in the subject material and they’re suitable for individual or team projects.
Procedures for Analysis
Example Problems
The worked examples illustrate the application of elementary theory to practical engineering issues and reflect problem-solving methods mentioned in relatedProcedures for Analysis.
Important Points
Important Points summarize probably the most important concepts in a section, and highlight the points that need to be used when making use of the theory to solve problems.
End of Chapter Review
A thorough End-of-Chapter Review consists of each Important Point, accompanied by the relevant equation and artwork from the chapter, providing college students with a concise tool for learning.

Real World Photos
Pictures, many taken by the author R.C. Hibbeler himself, are used throughout the ebook to elucidate how the relevant principles apply to real-world situations.
